Baguio City: US Ambassador Philip Goldberg concluded this year’s Independence Day events. Held at the Embassy Residence in Baguio City on July 10, the reception was a celebration of the 239th anniversary of American Independence Day.
The ambassador’s trip highlighted US Embassy Manila’s work in advancing the right of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
On July 11, US Ambassador Goldberg commemorated the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act by participating in the opening ceremony of a basketball and soccer clinic for PWDs at St. Louis University in Baguio City.
Approximately 100 PWDs from the Cordillera Administrative Region participated in the event organized by US Embassy Manila in partnership with Alaska Milk Corp., St. Louis University Baguio and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
While in Manila, representatives from the embassy also hosted an Iftar Reception at Jami’ Ad-Dabl Mosque on July 9. The Iftar, an evening meal to break the fast during the holy month of Ramadan, was a culmination of the “Ramadan Interfaith Outreach” project put on by the embassy. The meal highlighted the importance of interfaith dialogue and promoted religious tolerance.
