WASHINGTON, D.C.: Two US federal agencies have issued warnings that Congress must take action to raise the government's borrowing limit, the debt ceiling, by March 16, or face consequences including default.

On Monday, the 2014 extension of the US borrowing limit will reach its statutory limit, inhibiting the ability of the Treasury to finance government activities.
