DARAGA, ALBAY: The first female Filipino-American official of the United States Armed Forces (USAF), Rear Admiral Bette Bolivar, commander of Joint Region Marianas, turned over the newly built school building and renovated classrooms here under Pacific Partnership 2016.
USAF soldiers and its Filipino counterparts constructed the school building of two classrooms under its Engineering Civic Action Program (ENCAP) at the Kinawitan Elem. School.
“The encap is part of Pacific Partnership to build schools for children preparing for the next generation the future leader of tomorrow. It will also serve as shelter during or in time of disaster, a new shelter which could withstand super typhoon or catastrophic disaster,” Bolivar said.
Bolivar, whose father is a former US Navy sailor who hails from Nabua, Camarines Sur, is the first female Fil-Am Admiral in the US Naval Command.
Angelina Macasinag, a teacher in charge of Kinawitan, told The Manila Times that the project will benefit 59 pupils here.
Army Lt. Col Baylon Aler of the Army Engineering Brigade said the engineering component of the project also included the repair of classrooms in Barangay Cotmon in Camalig town and the installation of a water tank and lavatory in Mabini Elementary School, also in Daraga.
