APRIL Dianne Bibiano copped two titles to shine in the 1st Sun Cellular-Ming Ramos National Juniors Badminton Tournament Visayas leg held at the Raquet Zone Badminton Center in Cebu City.
Bibiano of University of St. La Salle (USLS) showed supremacy against fellow USLS bet Aizyl Joy Anuales in the finals, 21-10, 21-9, to capture the girls’ 19-under singles title of the competition powered by Forthright Events.
Bibiano won her second title when she teamed up with Dhessa Mae Arino in the girls doubles 19-under and blanked Elca Marie Gidaya and Cana Isabelle Solon of Silliman University in the finals, 21-3, 21-4, to win the crown.
The three-day Visayas leg tournament is supported by Sun Cellular, Smart Communications, Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation, and Philippine Badminton Association Smash Pilipinas and Babolat.
Emilio Mangubat Jr. of Whackers Badminton Club whipped Dexter Opalla in the finals, 21-14, 21-11, to clinch the boys’ 19-under singles crown and he also snared the boys’ 17-under singles title after rallying past Ryan Doromal of Southwestern University (SWU) in the finals, 21-11, 21-7.
Android Rose Tiongson of SWU blanked her teammate Tricia Opon in finals , 11-21, 21-14, 21-13, for the girls’ 17-under singles.
Carl Bernard Bejasa of University of San Carlos (USC) won over Paul James Ouano of USC in finals, 21-9, 21-11, to take home the boys’ 15-under title and Laville Laborte of USC defeated Mia Manguilimotan of Talisay City in finals, 21-19, 21-15, for the girls’ 15-under crown.
