UST clips NU in UAAP softball

University of Santo Tomas (UST) posted a come-from-behind 4-3 win over National University (NU) to advance to the second phase of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines Season 77 softball stepladder semifinals on Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

Pitcher Anne Antolihao struck out three batters in the crucial inning while Kris Lacupa, Hannah Mae Dela Torre and rookie Ricky Mae Latican had one run-batted-in apiece to lead the Tigresses.

UST will be facing the No. 2 seeds University of the Philippines (UP) Lady Maroons on Friday.

The Lady Maroons hold a twice-to-beat incentive. They also beat the Tigresses, 7-4, in the playoff last Sunday.

The winner of the UST-UP game will advance to the finals against the defending champions Adam-son University Lady Falcons.

The Lady Falcons armed themselves with a thrice-to-beat advantage after sweeping the elimination round.

Adamson guns for its fifth-straight title and 14th overall. Far Eastern University has the most number of softball titles with 21.
