Ateneo de Manila University skipper Alyssa Valdez bagged her second Most Valuable Player (MVP) award in the Univer-sity Athletic Association of the Philippines women’s volleyball competition.
Valdez, a known household name in the Philippine women’s volleyball, will formally receive her MVP trophy on Saturday in Game 2 of the finals series between Ateneo and De La Salle University.
“I’m so thankful to be named MVP for the second time but what important is the back-to-back title,” said Valdez, who delivered 22 kills along with two blocks and an ace for 25 points in Game 1 of the finals.
Besides the MVP trophy, Valdez also won the Best Scorer and Best Server titles while Jaja Santiago of semifinalist National University captured the Best Spiker plum.
University of Santo Tomas’ (UST) Marivic Velaine Meneses pocketed the Best Blocker citation while Christine Agno of Far Eastern University was named Best Digger. Ateneo’s Jia Morado received the Best Setter award.
Ateneo’s Dennise Michelle Lazaro won the Best Receiver award.
Kathleen Faith Arado of Uni-versity of the East and UST’s EJ Laure shared the Rookie of the Year honors.
