Former collegiate rivals Alyssa Valdez and Mika Reyes will lead the final 12-women national volleyball team in the 29th Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Larong Volleyball ng Pilipinas Inc. (LVPI) announced on Wednesday the final roster of men’s and women’s national teams for the biennial meet slated on August 19 to 31.
Aside from Valdez and Reyes, other players who also suited up in the 2015 SEA Games in Singapore who got another call from LVPI were Rhea Dimaculangan, Jaja Santiago, Aby Marano, Jovelyn Gonzaga, Maika Ortiz, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, and Denden Lazaro.
The first-timers were Kim Fajardo, Genevieve Casugod and Frances Molina. Rachel Anne Daquis and Dawn Nicole Macandili were named as reserve players.
In the men’s side, former SEA Games standout Johnvic de Guzman will be at the helm together with Relan Taneo, Geuel Asia, Alnakran Abdilla, Mark Gil Alfafara, Bryan Bagunas, Alden Dave Cabaron, Reyson Fuentes, Bonjomar Castel, Herschel Ronald Ramos, Jack Kalingling, and Gregorio Dolor.
Named as reserve players were John Eduard Carascal and Peter John Quiel.
The women’s team will be handled by Francis Vicente while Sammy Acaylar will call the shots for the men’s side.
The women’s team finished fifth in the last edition of SEA Games while the men’s squad placed sixth.
