The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) announced over the weekend that the veil said to have the imprint of the face of Jesus would be in the Philippines on September 10 to 17, 2014.
In an article posted over the CBCP website, it said that the veil, which is known as The Holy Face of Jesus from Manoppello will be in the Philippines after the successful tour in the US West Coast and Las Vegas.
Also known as The Veil of Manoppello, it has been housed for 500 years in the Capuchin Friary in Abruzzo, Pescara, near Rome, the CBCP added.
“The Filipino faithful will have a chance to venerate what many believe to be a piece of cloth containing an imprint of the Lord’s Face,” the CBCP said.
Beginning September 10, the veil will be at Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park in Makati; September 11 at the Marian Pilgrimage Activities in Lipa Batangas and September 12 also in Lipa, Batangas.
On September 13 it will be at the Edsa Shrine; September 14 at the National Sacred Heart Shrine in Makati City; September 15 at the Church of Our Lady of the Abandoned in Santa Ana, Manila; September 16 at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church at Nampicuan, Nueva Ecija; and on September 17 a farewell mass will be held at the Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park in Makati.
The CBCP said that The Holy Face of Jesus from Manoppello, is a sacred veil or handkerchief customarily used by Jews to cover the face of their dead during burial.
