The husband of Mary Jane Veloso on Monday maintained that Kristina Sergio is a member of a big syndicate.
In his affidavit submitted at the Department of Justice, Michael Candelaria said Julius Lacanilao, Sergio’s partner, went to heir house on April 18, 2010.
Since they considered Lacanilao a member of the family because his parents were among their wedding sponsors, Candelaria said his wife accepted the job offered by Sergio.
But when they learned that Veloso was jailed in Indonesia, Sergio told them not to worry because they can allegedly shell out millions to get Mary Jane out.
He added that Sergio confessed to them that she is a member of a big syndicate.
The National Bureau of Investigation-Anti Human Trafficking Division said the affidavit will bolster the case filed by Veloso against Sergio and Lacanilao because he has direct and personal knowledge on how Veloso was recruited.
Veloso was convicted and sentenced to die by firing squad for smuggling heroin in Indonesia.
