Filipino-American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Brandon “The Truth” Vera will take on Chi Lewis “Chopper” Parry when ONE Championship returns to Manila on December 11 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“Each year in Manila, we try to outdo ourselves by putting on increasingly exciting fight cards for passionate fight fans in the Philippines,” said Victor Cui, CEO of ONE Championship at a press conference on Wednesday at the City of Dreams.
“This is the biggest fight of the year,” Cui added.
The Vera vs Parry bout is the main event of ONE: Spirit of Champions.
“I want to make everybody happy here in the Philippines during the fight,” said Vera.
“Kapag natalo ako dito sa Pilipinas – pangit (If I lose here in the Philippines, it’s not good)” added Vera who often speaks Tagalog during the interview.
Filipino bantamweight champion Mark “Mugen” Striegl is also set to take on undefeated Jordan “Showtime” Lucas from Melbourne, Australia.
“Lucas is a tough guy and a champion from Australia. But of course, I have my eyes on the world title and beating Jordan Lucas. I’ll put my focus on him,” said Striegl.
The other Filipinos fighting in the event are Ana “Hurricane” Julaton who will clash against Russion kickboxer Irina Mazepa and former sanshou fighter Ruel Catalan will face Brazilian grappler Alex Silva.
