PLUS: Scoop! Kris Aquino signs up with APT Entertainment; and exclusive photos of Jazz Ocampo and rumored suitor Javi Benitez
Is it true that Kris Aquino has signed a contract with another outfit? Yes, it is and it is both for television and the movies, via APT Entertainment, according to my unimpeachable source. The long-time ABS-CBN star whose contract ended earlier this year reportedly inked the dotted line on Tuesday.
APT Entertainment has not made any announcements regarding this surprise move from Kris just yet, but as everyone knows, the company is a subsidiary of TAPE Inc., the producer of the longest-running noontime variety show, Eat Bulaga!, which airs on GMA Network.
While mostly involved in producing mainstream blockbuster movies, the most recent of which is the Alden Richards-Maine Mendoza offering, My Bebe Love, Antonio Tuviera’s APT also dabbles in TV production outside of TAPE, Inc., and is currently behind GMA’s Sunday PinaSaya. Its past TV productions too have all been aired over the Kapuso Network, which is most likely where the public will see more of the Queen of All Media.
Oh and by the way, my source also shared with me that Kris didn’t tell her BFF Boy Abunda—who also stands as her manager for endorsement deals—about her unexpected decision until after the contract signing took place. We’re guessing the moment rendered the pair of very verbose hosts quite speechless!
After a six-year break from the annual Metro Manila Film Festival, ace comedian Vic Sotto is bringing back to life his well-loved character of Enteng Kabisote to the big screen anew via Enteng Kabisote 10 And The Abangers.
Intended for the 2016 MMFF, Vic is so proud of the new Enteng Kabisote, which is being directed by two known comedy directors Tony Reyes and Marlon Rivera.
“This new Enteng Kabisote is really different. Of course, we’re levelling up. From the story to the dialogue and special effects, they’ve all been attuned to the millennials.”
The new Enteng Kabisote franchise also boasts of at least 30 stars in the cast. Among them are the three “lolas” of Eat Bulaga’s “Kalyeserye” fame, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola and Paolo Ballesteros; Oyo Sotto, Epi Quizon, Bea Binene, Ken Chan, Ryza Cenon, and Jerald Napoles; and “Kalyeserye” discovery Rogelia.
“I was actually not planning to join the film festival this year,” Vic revealed. “The first time they announced that there would be changes in the rules—like they will only accept entries that are already finished and the deadline for submission was early—I said it would be impossible for us to finish the whole movie.
“But when they moved the deadline to a later date, I knew we had enough time to finish the film with all the special effects. That was when I sat down with my co-producers and our directors. All it took was one meeting and we ironed everything out. Before we knew it, we already had our shooting schedule. As you can see, even before we had our story conference, I had my first shooting day already.”
Everybody is guessing now who will be Enteng’s Faye in the movie. The last Faye was played by Bubble Gang mainstay Gwen Zamora.
In Enteng Kabisote 10, Vic assures that Faye’s character will be very prominent in the story. There are those who say that it might be Kris Aquino who just had a lengthy meeting with APT Entertainment boss Tony Tuviera, but the producers were quick to say, “No.”
So who will she be? “Secret… surprise,” Vic answered with a smile.
Actually, I know who will play Faye and I would say that the role really fits her. But then, I am forbidden to say who the actress is, so let’s just allow Vic to make the announcement very soon.
Even before Paolo Ballesteros makes his much anticipated comeback in Eat Bulaga, he already had his reunion with his fellow “lolas” Jose and Wally at the shoot of Enteng Kabisote 10 And The Abangers. It has been more than five months since the trio—collectively known as “Jowapao”—worked together and Jose and Wally don’t hide the fact that they miss Paolo very much.
“We have been used to see him and to work with him every day, so of course we miss Pao. It’s different when the three of us are all together—it’s more fun. And now that we are working in a movie together, we’re very excited. We can see so many things we can do now that we’re all together again,“ Jose said.
Jose and Wally are both looking forward to Paolo’s Eat Bulaga comeback too, especially now that whenever Paolo is asked about his return to the top-rated noontime show, he answers with a big smile on his face and says, “Very soon.”
“I’m so happy Paolo is coming back. Every one knows how riotous it is to have all three of us together. We don’t have a plan what to do for his comeback yet but we are waiting for him with lots of anticipation,” Wally enthused.
Showbiz columns were all abuzz last week about Kapuso young actress Jazz Ocampo being pursued by Javi Benitez, the unico hijo of Negros Occidental Congressman Albie Benitez.
Jazz doesn’t deny that she and Javi are very good friends. She cannot say, however, if he is indeed courting her. “I cannot say that he is courting me because he doesn’t say anything [of that sort to me]. Some people may say it’s cliché but the truth is we’re just friends,” Jazz said.
For his part, Javi said that he and Jazz are still on the getting-to-know-each-other stage. “We have gone out a couple of times but it was not just two of us. We were in a group. I find her very beautiful, of course, and very nice. In fact, I invited her to come to our hometown in Victorias City, and I’m glad she accepted the invitation,” Javi told me during our lunch with him and his dad, Rep. Benitez.
And so the out of town happened last weekend. Jazz went to Victorias City with her mom and her manager. She helped Javi in his fun run charity project and was with him also during the awarding.
Javi played the perfect host to Jazz and company. He brought her to their farm and had their lunch there. He showed her their pets, mostly wild animals and birds, in the farm. The two were always together. Javi brought his visitors to the nearby city of Bacolod for dinner on the same day.
The following day, as Jazz was preparing to go back to Manila, Javi announced that he was flying back with her because he is scheduled to return to the US for his studies. Javi is taking up Political Science at the University of Sta. Clara in Northern California. The two promised to keep in touch despite their being thousands of miles apart.
SHORTS … Is it true that these two young actresses are already showing their true colors on the set of the soap where they both star? Young Actress No. 1 was given a holding tent far from the rest of the cast because she is always inside the tent of the male stars. Is it because of the young actor who is said to be her boyfriend?
Young Actress No. 2, meanwhile, is playing hard to deal with. A production staffer complained, “I’m so surprised that she became swell-headed so fast. When you offer her food, she would say they don’t eat that kind of stuff at home.
“Hello!” said the exasperated staffer. “As if we didn’t know she came from a poor family.”
… At last, Jake Vargas has found a leading lady who is slightly shorter than him in the person of Inah De Belen. They will be together in a new soap for GMA. Inah is so pretty. I won’t be surprised if Jake is smitten by her charm.
