Cable TV’s History Channel proudly premiered the latest season of its top-rating period series Vikings on February 28, the same day the program premiered in the United States.
Created and written by the award-winning Michael Hirst, the critically acclaimed series revolves around the life of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) as he rises to be King of the Viking tribes.

The first season ended on the precipice of conflict and tragedy as younger brother Rollo (Clive Standen) abandons his brother to fight for Jarl Borg of Gotaland. Ragner’s dalliance with Princess Auslag (Alyssa Sutherland) has left his marriage to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) in difficulty. An illness has descended on the village, taking with it Ragner’s daughter.

In this new season, Ragnar is torn apart from his beloved son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig).

As King Horrick (Donal Logue) courts the rising Ragnar as ally and supporter, he is faced with The King of Wessex (Linus Roache) as a formidable new adversary. More blood is spilled as the story journeys through warfare, bloodshed and unwavering devotion to the Norse Gods. This is a real glimpse of Viking society through their eyes.

The 10-episode season of Vikings continues every Friday at 10 p.m. with encore screenings air every Sunday at the same time.
