PILI, Camarines Sur: Members of the Villafuerte and Fuentabella political clan will again fight for the gubernatorial seat of Camarines Sur in the May 9 elections, only this time the Villafuerte patriarch is supporting the Fuentabellas.
Former Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund “LRay” Villafuerte, his father former 3rd district Rep. Luis Villafuerte, is now allied with the Fuentabellas of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) and supporting the candidacy of Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The older Villafuerte was defeated by his grandson Miguel Luis “Migz” Villafuerte during the 2013 gubernatorial race in the province.
Migz is now seeking his second term as governor against Tigaon Mayor Arnulf Brian
“Arnie” Fuentebella, the son of former House Speaker Arnulfo Fuentabella.
LRay, father of Migz, is making a comeback in the political scene and eyeing the congressional seat for the province’ second district against Pasacao Mayor Asuncio Villamante Arseño.
Both LRay and Migz are member of the Nationalista Party (NP) but will be supporting presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe and vice presidential bet Rep. Leni Robredo.
The Villafuerte patriarch, on the other hand, is running as congressman for the province’s third district which will be vacated by Robredo.
Robredo, during the 2013 third district congressional race, defeated Luis’ wife Nelly.
