Village chairman in Davao killed


A VILLAGE chairman who is also a retired Army colonel was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in a remote village in Davao City, police reports said on Friday.

Reports reaching the PNP National Operation Center in Camp Crame identified the fatality as Antonio Albran Jr., incumbent chairman of Brgy. Dominga, Calinan District in Davao City.

Albaran’s bullet riddled body was found at around 4a.m. on  Thursday by residents of Purok 5, Sitio Quibaton.

Police reports said the victim’s face was almost recognizable from fatal gunshot wounds he sustained.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) have recovered at least 16 empty shells of M16 and M14 rifles as well as of   .45 caliber pistol in the crime scene.

A resident in the area identified as Flordeliza Estocado told investigators that prior to the discovery of Albaran’s body several gunshots were heard dawn of Thursday.

Police are yet to determine motive and the identity of the suspects behind in the brutal killing of Albaran who is serving his first term as chairman of Brgy. Dominga.
