• Village chief gunned down in Nueva Ecija


    ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija: A village head was gunned down by three hooded men while having coffee at the house of his treasurer in Barangay Sto. Tomas here Friday.

    Police identified the victim as Rodrigo Miranda, 56.

    Investigation showed Miranda was drinking coffee at about 10:20 a.m. Friday in the house of the village treasurer, some eight kilometers from the town proper, when three bonnet-wearing men on board a Hyundai car with no license plates peppered him with bullets.

    The victim sustained several gunshot wounds from Armalite rifles and was rushed to a Cabanatuan hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, police reported.

    The car then sped in the direction of Cabanatuan City.

    Police have yet to establish the motive and the people behind the killing. PNA
