• Village councilman, 2 ‘pushers’ arrested in Surigao norte


    A VILLAGE official and two others were nabbed during separate anti-drug operations on Tuesday in different towns in Surigao del Norte. Reports reaching the PNP National Operation Center in Camp Crame identified the arrested drug suspects as Flordelito Quiban, 43, and a Kagawad (councilman) of Barangay Santo Niño, San Isidro town. Surigao Del Norte Provincial Police Office identified the other two suspects as Archie Batal, 22, of Purok Pagatpat, Barangay Magsaysay in Placer town; and Dennis Caspe Rivera, 41, of Purok Camia, in Mainit town. Police said Quiban was found with a sachet of shabu and P500 marked money, among others, while Batal yielded a sachet of shabu weighing .5 grams, estimated to cost P5,900 and P500 marked money. Batal has surrendered earlier but returned to drug pushing. Rivera, on the other hand, was found with four sachets of shabu worth P2,000; a cellphone and the buy-bust money. Police report added that he is a newly identified drug suspect. All suspects are detained following filing of charges against them.
