A village chairman and his com-panion were shot dead by three unidentified gunmen that attacked them late Wednesday night in Masbate, police reports said on Friday.
Reports at the Philippine National Police national operations center in Camp Crame identified the slain village official as Irenio Booc, 43, chairman of Brgy. Divisoria of Cataingan, Masbate, while wounded was Marlon Etcobanes, 20.
The reports said the two were on a motorcycle headed for home Wednesday night when they were flagged down by the gunmen along a municipal road in Sitio Taquican, Brgy. Poblacion of said town.
The gunmen then without warning opened fire on the two hitting them in different parts of their bodies killing them both instantly, the reports said.
The reports said that responding policemen recovered 13 empty cartridges for a .45 pistol at the crime scene.
