Is Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) Director General Emmanuel Joel Villanueva joining the Palace communications group?
Villanueva, during the awarding of the highest ISO standards to Tesda in Malacañang on Monday, hinted that he may soon leave the agency.
“Certainly, time will come I may no longer be at Tesda, but there will be others who will take care for the tree that Jaden and I planted,” Villanueva said in his speech.
Jaden is the Tesda chief’s eldest son.
“Sa akin pong kasamahan sa Tesda, buo ang aking loob na aalagaan nyo rin ang ating ahensiya. Alam kong ang lahat ng ating sinimulan at pinangarap para sa Tesda ay ipagpapatuloy ninyo (To my colleagues in Tesda, I know that you will take care of our agency. I know that you will continue the programs that we have started),” he added.
Villanueva is currently being wooed by President Benigno Aquino 3rd to replace Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. as head of Malacanang’s communication team. Coloma is set to be named chairman of the Civil Service Commission.
The Tesda chief has been a close friend of Aquino since their lawmaker days at the House of Representatives.
There have been talks on reorganizing the Palace communications group after Malacañang was criticized on the way it handled the aftermath of Oplan Exodus, a government operation targetting top terrorists that led to the death of 44 police commandos.
Villanueva earlier admitted that he had heard that he was being considered for the team but said he has not yet talked to the President.
“At the end of the day we work at the pleasure of the President. Wherever he thinks I’ll be needed, it would be hard to say no,” he said.
In his speech, President Aquino was profuse in his praise of Villanueva, son of Jesus is Lord Founder Bro. Eddie Villanueva.
