Villar: agriculture modernization slow


Senator Cynthia Villar is batting for the allocation of P20 billion a year for the modernization of agriculture programs and projects, including equipping farmers with machinery to help them maximize their productivity and income. “The Philippines lags behind its neighbors in farm mechanization [and is]a far fifth placer to Japan, South Korea, China and Thailand,” the senator, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Fodd, told people present during the launching of Yanmar Philippines products such as tractors and harvest machines at Sofitel Plaza Hotel in Pasay City on Tuesday. Yanmar has partnered with Filipino firm Rapoli Corp. in marketing agricultural machines in the country.

The Farm mechanization program of the government really very slow because up to now it’s been almost 2years we haven’t yet received the farm equipment supposed to be for our cooperative which been approved for almost 2years,supposed to be those equipment apparently a big help to us farmers.’..asaan na po Secretary Alcala….
