It was an emotional Monday for Batangas Gov. Vilma Recto as she faced the employees of the Batangas Capitol to say goodbye to them. After completing her three terms as the provincial governor in the past nine years, she will have to leave the capitol and embark on a new role as the Representative of the Lone District of Lipa City.
The Star for All Seasons, who is lovingly called Ate Vi in showbiz, says she has mixed emotions at this juncture in her political career. She is sad to leave the gubernatorial post but at the same time excited about her new role as legislator.
“I can’t describe the feeling—parang deja vu. Kasi nu’ng mayor ako, we worked as a family. You know, the family who’s always there, tapos aalis ka, pupunta ka sa iba naman, to another place. Now, it’s the same situation. This is my last term at parang goodbye muna. Uuwi muna ako sa amin sa Lipa. They gave their trust to me to be their representative in Congress. And I find this new role very challenging because it is my first time to be a legislator. Although I’m familiar with how it works, it’s still a new role for me as a public servant,” she explained.
While I was visiting Ate Vi at the provincial capitol, Governor-elect Dodo Mandanas also paid her a visit. They talked about the transition that will happen from her administration to his.
“I want to have a smooth turn-over. I know that Batangas is in good hands with Governor Mandanas,” the beloved outgoing leader of the province said with confidence.
With just a little over a month before she begins her job as legislator, Congresswoman-elect Vi is determined to give her full attention to her new post. That means showbiz will have to take a backseat temporarily.
“Hindi ko muna iniisip ang showbiz. I am not entertaining any offers for movies right now. I want to focus on my being a legislatior. I’m so thankful that I have a good teacher in my husband. Ralph [Recto, a re-elected senator] has taught me a lot,” she enthused.
The love team of Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali is getting to be more in demand for endorsements. There are at least two offers for them to endorse products for young men and women like them, but cannot reveal the details yet as the contract is still under negotiation. They have also signed an endorsement contract with the Manny and Pye Calayan Clinic.
Manny and Pye believe that Miguel and Bianca will be very effective endorsers, what with their thousands of fans who follow them in their social media accounts.
“They are very popular and, of course, we want to be identified with artists like them. Through them, we also want to tell the public that skin care should start at a young age,” said Manny.
“We have been looking for fresh faces to endorse our clinic and we believe they fit the role,” added Pye.
Meanwhile, Miguel and Bianca’s schedule will be lighter in the coming days because their afternoon soap Wish I May is saying goodbye today, but their fans won’t miss them because they still have the weekly sit com Ismol Family with Carla Abellana and Ryan Agoncillo.
The two young stars are now busy with their hobby, which is photography. Each of them has bought their own cameras.
“It’s a very nice hobby. I love shooting pictures wherever I go. I feel good when I get good feedbacks whenever I post the pictures I took in my Instagram,” said Miguel.
“I have been a photography enthusiasts since I was about 12. It was I who encouraged Miguel to try it and I’m happy he now enjoys this hobby with me,” said Bianca.
Brace yourself for an afternoon of laughter and entertainment as Team Betsheen bring you the exciting Laff, Camera, Action every Saturday at 4 p.m. starting May 28. By “Betsheen,” I mean, comedian Betong Sumaya and actress Sheena Halili.
The two Kapuso artists are so thankful that this show, with original concept, was entrusted to them. This is the first time that both of them are hosting their own show.
“We’re so excited and, di ba, it’s a different feeling for us, Sheena? Magkahalong nerbiyos, saya pero siyempre our goal, Tito Lhar, is mapasaya po mga Kapuso natin,” Betong told me after the press launch of their show on Tuesday.
“We’re happy in the studio dahil masaya rin po ‘yu’ng concept ng show and we know that the viewers will really enjoy watching,” said Sheena.
Laff, Camera, Action is actually a contest wherein the celebrity contestants will be asked to act out a scene with them supplying the dialogue and all the actions. It is some sort of an improvisation technique in acting. The winning team will receive a cash prize of P75,000. The show will also choose a best performer awardee who will get an additional P10,000.
“Aside from that, we also have the “Nandiyan Ka Pala Award,” meaning his presence was hardly noticed. Hindi naramdaman na kasama pala siya sa eksena,” Betong happily said.

So this former matinee idol makes no efforts anymore to hide his sexual preference. He has been sending private messages to a good-looking student who also does modelling on the side. He saw the student’s picture in social media and from then on, started sending him messages saying he really likes him and would like to meet with him. Never mind if the student is enrolled in a far city in the north. He will rush to the city as soon as the student agrees to see him. How did I know about this? Well, the student happens to be a close relative.
