Typhoon “Vinta” left P30 million worth of agriculture and infrastructure damage when it battered Northern Luzon on Friday, a government disaster report said on Saturday.
In its latest update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) said damage to agriculture was P28.5 million and P1.345 million in infrastructure.
Vinta also uprooted trees that blocked roads in Ilocos Norte and Apayao provinces and affected six roads and three bridges in Cordillera and Cagayan Valley.
The agency added that 24,125 families or 104,900 people in five provinces in Ilocos, Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions were affected, and one person was reported missing.
Power in some parts of the affected regions was cut but had been restored as of early Saturday morning, the NDRRMC said.
Vinta destroyed 1,737 houses and damaged another 13,174, the agency said. ANTHONY VARGAS
