BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The provincial government will be needing P1.28 billion to pursue implementation of its local version of the national government’s Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP). Provincial planning and development officer Engineer Edgardo Sabado said the PRDP plan includes construction of farm-to-market roads and bridges that will prepare the province to compete with the economic integration of Southeast Asian Nations. A 2013-2019 project-World Bank (WB) loan, PRDP is being pushed by the Department of Agriculture (DA) in provinces, municipalities and cities that depend mostly on agri-based economies. Sabado explained that the needed funds for the PRDP will focus on province-based production, development and processing as well as marketing of highland vegetables, coffee and fruits such as onion, mango, pineapple and citrus varieties.
