BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: Agiculture Secretary Proceso Alcala led the inauguration of P35-million worth of projects in the towns of Bambang and Bagabag in Nueva Vizcaya.
The infrastructure support projects funded by the Department of Agriculture (DA) include the Nueva Vizcaya Agricultural Terminal (NVAT) in Barangay Almaguer North in Bambang town, which is one of the biggest suppliers of agricultural products of Nepa Q Mart, Muñoz Market and Divisoria in the National Capital Region.
The other projects are the concreting of a 1,000-meter road, a windmill project and building infrastructures and facilities for the cut flower industry, organic food and vegetables, wet market, storage, product washing and sorting area and the farmers’ auction center.
Gilbert Cumila, NVAT general manager, said Alcala formally opened eight of the nine DA-funded infrastruc- ture projects.
“With these agricultural developments in the province, we are inviting our farmers to come and avail of our services and facilities with only minimal fees. We are very thankful to our local officials and the DA for these projects,” Cumila added.
Alcala was in town to attend the opening of the agri-trade fair of the 7th Grand Ammungan Festival and Nueva Vizcaya’s 176th Founding Anniversary. He was also a speaker at the 2nd National Summit Agri-Pinoy Trading Center in Solano town.
In Bagabag town, Alcala also inaugurated the newly constructed Organic Farmers Trading Center at the Nueva Vizcaya Experimental Station in Barangay Baretbet.
Through the projects, Cumila said, traditional farmers are encouraged to produce more organic agricultural products.
