Vizcaya okays P9.7M backwages

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya: The Provincial Board here has approved more than P9.7 million as initial payment for backwages of more than 80 reinstated provincial government employees. Presided by Vice Gov. Lambert Galima Jr., the Provincial Board said the recipients of backwages were relieved from their former positions soon after the 2013 elections. Executive Order (EO) No. 3 of Gov. Ruth Padilla recalled, withdrew and revoked their appointments by former Gov. Luisa Lloren Cuaresma. The affected employees who were dismissed for allegedly not undergoing the regular hiring procedure questioned EO 3 and filed illegal dismissal and abuse of authority charges against Padilla. The Civil Service Commission (CSC) decided in favor of the employees who were reinstated in August. The Provincial Board has authorized the supplemental budget to pay the reinstated government employees through Appropriations Ordinance No. 2015-351 in compliance with the decision of the CSC.
