Vizcaya town to build mini-hydro power plant


BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya: In a bid to provide cheaper cost of power among the villagers in this industrial town, local leaders here are collaborating with a private water firm to build a multi-million peso worth mini hydro power project. Under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with Matuno River Development Corporation (MRDC), the Matuno Hydro Power Project (MHPP) is to be operated under a five-year contract to provide free and or low cost electricity supply to primary impact areas and its adjacent villages. MRDC chairman Amando Diaz said the MHPP is expected to produce 8-mega watts of hydro power and will be the first renewable energy undertaking in the province which will utilize water resources of the Matuno River basin.
