VOLVO20130702VOLVO Phils. last week released the Limited Edition Performance Package for turbo-charged and diesel variants of the Volvo S60, XC60 and XC90. The go-fast/look-good pack includes R-Design styling elements and Polestar-tuned engines—at no extra cost and without affecting the cars’ warranty coverage.

Volvo said the engine software developed by Polestar—the carmaker’s official motor sport partner since 1996—increases power and torque while retaining fuel consumption and emission levels. With the Limited Edition Performance Package, the S60 T6 AWD gets its power boosted from 304 horsepower to 329 horsepower, and up to 480 Newton-meter of torque.

The Polestar software upgrade can be installed while the car is in for a service or tire change, Volvo Phils. said, adding that all the changes Polestar make are tested and verified not to stress any component beyond its performance limits.

The R-Design styling elements back up the performance with looks, and the additions include a rear diffuser, dual chrome tailpipes, sport pedals and 18-inch or 20-inch alloy wheels.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this to the market especially, to Volvo enthusiasts who have long known and appreciated the sleek, swift and sexy DNA of our cars,” said Volvo Phils. Assistant Vice President for Marketing Loi de Guzman.

According to Volvo Phils., Volvo has been active in motor sports since 1928. It won the Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) in 1996, 1997 and 2009; the European Touring Car Championship in 1985; and the British Touring Car Championship in 1998. In 2012, it scored a grand slam in Sweden’s TTA – Racing Elite League through a clean sweep of the drivers’, team and manufacturers’ championships.

Recently, the Polestar Volvo S60 racing team clinched a historic quadruple finish in the Stockholm leg of the 2013 STCC. This means the team now leads in the manufacturers’ championship.

“We’re very proud of our strong reputation when it comes to safety and reliability while offering great performance in powerful cars,” said Volvo Cars Asia Pacific Vice President for Customer Services Kevin Meeks. “The knowledge gained from winning races and championships has allowed us to develop new and dynamic engines, powertrains, chassis and so on. Ultimately, this translates to a fun and rewarding drive for our customers.”
