Balik-import Henry Walker provided the clutch plays for Blackwater to halt a three-game losing streak, 92-86, over Phoenix in the Philippine Basketball Association Season 42 Governors Cup on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
Walker, who replaced the injured Trevis Simpson, had six crucial points for the Elite in the closing minute and foiled the comeback of the Fuel Masters to finally enter the win column with 1-3 slate.
“Finally, we were able to get a win, special thanks to our new import (Walker) who gave inspiration to others to win. In the last few minutes, he was complaining of cramps but he still challenged his teammates to be on top of the situation,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.
Walker, who poured in 14 of his 32 points in the payoff period to go along with 15 rebounds and five assists, sealed the Elite’s win with two free throws, 90-86, with eight ticks left in the game then Mike Digregorio pegged the final count with two charities.
Digregorio tallied 28 points also for the Elite.
Phoenix import Eugene Phelps was limited to only 13 points but hauled down 17 rebounds. The Fuel Masters suffered their third straight setback to drop to 2-3.
