The NLEX Warriors will face the formidable Talk ‘N Text while expansion teams Kia Carnival and Blackwater Elite collide against each other today in the 40th Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Governor’s Cup elimination round at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
The Tropang Texters, with a 2-1 slate, will be seeking for their third win in four outings when they battle sister team Road Warriors at 7 p.m. following the Carnivals vs Elites encounter at 5:15 p.m. A win by coach Jong Uichico’s Texters will enable them to gain share of the second spot with the Alaska Aces.
Coach Manny Pacquiao’s Kia, which is bearing a similar 2-1 record, is also aiming for a share of the second spot that is if they win over Blackwater. Both the Elites and Road Warriors are locked in a four-way logjam at the bottom with Purefoods Star Hotshots and Rain or Shine that are also bearing similar 1-3 win-loss slates.
Uichico’s Talk ‘N Text are coming off a 104-103 victory over Alaska on May 18. Coach Boyet Fernandez is hoping his Road Warriors would bounce back strong after their painful 82-85 setback to Kia Carnival last week.
The Tropang Texters will again lean on the prowess of imports Steffphon Pettigrew and Sam Daghles as well as Matthew Ganuelas-Rosser, Ranidel de Ocampo, Jay Washington and Larry Fonacier against the Road Warriors’ Kwame Alexander, Syrian import Michael Madanly, Asi Taulava, Mark Cardona and Nino Canaleta.
