Was milf cheated on the peace agreement?

More and more members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) are getting restless by the day as the Bangsamoro law draft continues to remain in Malacañang, and has yet to reach Congress for deliberation and approval.

The MILF leadership, particularly its chief negotiator Mohager Iqbal, warned on Monday that several of their commanders may take up arms once again if the government fails to pass the Bangsamoro Law before President Benigno Aquino steps down in 2016.

In an exclusive phone interview on a TV network, Iqbal accused Malacañang lawyers of delaying the passage of the measure by trying to change almost 60 percent of the draft that was earlier agreed upon by the government and MILF peace panels on the negotiation table.

Though Iqbal did not give specific provisions the that the administration lawyers want amended, he said most of the issues were generally centered on the territorial and economic sections of the Bangsamoro draft.

The MILF negotiator wonders why the changes were presented just now, and why these were not presented by the government panel on the negotiating table before.

But officials privy to the draft claim changes have to be made since most of the provisions in the draft violate the Constitution.

Iqbal assured everyone that the MILF leadership is willing to wait until the Bangsamoro Law will be approved but hinted that “may hangganan ang pasensiya (patience has its end).”

Tsk, tsk, tsk . . . another headache for Pnoy.

Pnoy satisfaction rating slips

Most people were no longer surprised when the Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showed the Aquino administration’s satisfaction rating dropping to 29 percent from 49 percent in March.

The survey was done before the Supreme Court came out with its ruling that the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) was illegal.

Political Analysts Antonio Contreras said it is normal and expected that during the last years of any President in office, wherein he is considered a lame duck, starts to get low satisfaction ratings.

Contreras explains that there’s too little time for the President to do more for the country and its people because he starts to lose support from his allies in the legislature, who are planning to join other political groups whom they believe will help them win their reelection bids as lawmakers.

Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares predicted Pnoy’s ratings will even go down further if he will not fulfill his promises to his “bosses” and his administration is hounded by more anomalies.

Observers, however, believe that Pnoy’s more talk and less action caused his popularity to slip.

Also, his “tuwid na daan” policy only applies to his bosses and not to his friends, relatives, classmates, drinking buddies, cabinet members, etc.

There’s no one to blame but the President himself.

  1. And now what? this idiot President gave them money, now they can buy the arms to use against our soldiers. Aquino should be in the front line, since he is a thieving coward like all the rest of his big mouth cohorts. don’t hold your breath.

  2. Inverted pr0cess: they made an agreement, sh00k hands, lit s0me fireworks … then reviewed every item. N0w they’re stuck. Geniuses!

  3. no to autonomy, allout war no ceasefire.AFP sacrifice a lot dont deny them the final victory.Tulfo did you already visit your boss J Napoles at bagong diwa.6 more years for President Aquino.

  4. My understanding being an ordinary citizen sometimes watching the workers of the on going drafting or finalization of the bangsamoro basic law which as an agreed procedure still undergoing evaluation, review, insertion, dis-insertion or whatever process of amending provisions subject to scrutiny of congress, this stage should not be construed as have been cheated by either parties because as we can see the process has not yet reach to the final stage for us to attain the peaceful objective.

  5. Yes Aquino had thought that he could have anything fly past the SC as being constitutional. He okayed the original agreement but then everyone was talking about all of the unconstitutional provisions in it. He got cold feet, remembering how the SC shot him down on PDAF and DAP. So he decided to forget the agreement already signed and to explain to the other side it is necessary. He felt he had already bought them and they would agree to it. He explained this is how they would do it. The law would be changed and the other things required would be slipped into other laws and hidden from view.

  6. Voice from the Wilderness on

This present inconsequential Regime led by an inept president in malacanang is in a dilemma because they now know the present Supreme Court has an independent thinking and they are afraid that if they do not change the contentious provisions in this Bangsamoro Law, it may be challenged in the SC and they are afraid that they may suffer another debacle. On the other hand, if this law will be passed by Congress not in its original form during its drafting through talks and negotiation by both parties, then this present Regime can expect trouble as well.

  7. Like a hard headed spoilt brat. Incompetent na nga, wala pang puso para sa mga mahihirap.

  8. The MILF were cheated/fooled into believing that President BS Aquino is really sincere in negotiating a lasting peace with the MILF. He went all the way calling the MNLF agreement with the government a “Failed Experiment”. He even went to Japan secretly for this agreement. What a fool – ONLY TO BE NOMINATED IN THE “NOBEL PRIZE” – WHAT A PRICE?.

KNOWING ALL ALONG THAT THE AGREEMENT PROVISIONS ARE MOSTLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL. The negotiators know it but they have to do it for the President to get the “Nobel Prize” – now what?

The MILF were cheated as clear as the mid-day sun.

If they pursue the agreement as is – another “UNCONSTITUTIONAL” decision from the Supreme Court.
