• WATER CUT OFF IN ALBUERA, LEYTE

ALBUERA, Leyte:  The Municipality of Albuera in Leyte has placed under a state of emergency to prevent the spread of water contamination in the Sibugay River caused by a road construction error. Mayor Ramon Dela Cerna issued the directive after the water supply in the town was cut off last week. The problem was traced to road opening works along Albuera-Burauen Road where soil debris coming from it was pushed to the slope and fell on the Sibugay River, which is the town’s main water source. The clay type of soil debris caused the water of Sibugay River to turn brown.  Dela Cerna at first believed that the water discoloration in Sibugay River was caused by the three days of continues rain over the weekend. The project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office is a seven-kilometers road opening worth more than P186 million being undertaken by a Tacloban City-based construction firm, BM Marketing which started on September 16.
