ILOILO CITY: Water rationing in severe drought-hit barangays in this city will go on despite the onset of rains, according to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. The purchase of 25 water containers is under process after the city council declared last week the city under a state of calamity because of a water shortage. The declaration will allow the use of a portion of the city’s calamity fund. The city disaster risk reduction council issued a resolution declaring the city under the state of imminent water shortage and the city council followed up with a calamity declaration in order to allow the use funds amounting to P3 million. Mabilog said the amount will be used to purchase the containers to be deployed in 25 clustered barangays and for water deliveries to be held everyday.
