WELCOME! The BRP Andres Bonifacio (FF-17) is welcomed by the Philippine Navy upon its arrival on December 8 at Pier 13 of the Manila South Harbor. The ship, a former United States Coast Guard high endurance cutter, is expected to bolster the Philippine Navy fleet, providing increased maritime presence throughout the Philippines’ territorial waters and its exclusive economic zone. US Coast Guard cutter Boutwell was officially transferred to the Philippine Navy and renamed BRP Andres Bonifacio last July 21 during a ceremony at Coast Guard Base Alameda in California.  The BRP Andres Bonifacio was accquired under the Excess Defense Articles program, which offers excess military equipment to US allies in support of their military modernization efforts.
