Wesley finishes fourth in Tata chess tourney

Filipino Grandmaster (GM) Wesley So finished fourth overall in the 2016 Tata Steel Chess Tournament held in Wijk aan Zee in Netherlands. The 22-year-old So collected seven points on one win and 12 draws. He was actually in a three-way tie for fourth with GM Anish Giri of the Netherlands and GM Pavel Elijanov of Ukraine, who also scored seven points each. Magnus Carlsen bagged the top honors with nine points on five wins and eight draws for a whopping the 10,000 Euros top purse while Fabiano Caruana (eight points) and Ding (eight points) settled for second and third, respectively.

  1. I think Wesley could have done better with more risk. Win or draw or not lose I believe was his strategy at Tata Steel. Good start but less confident than the eventual champ.
