The Christmas season is always the perfect opportunity to bring out the fashionista in you what with merriment left and right.
And as usual, one of the first runway shows to come to the rescue of those in search for holiday fashion cues was Shangri-La Plaza. On November 19, the upscale mall in Mandaluyong City presented its annual Style Spectrum, which successfully and conveniently narrowed down the looks that are sure to stand out this season. From street wear to high fashion, the most popular local and international brands amid Shangri-La’s style haven were represented on the catwalk.
According to the mall’s Division Manager for Marketing, Marline Concio Dualan, the inspiration for this year’s holiday trend comes from a fairytale Christmas.
“This season there are a lot of fashion options but we focused on the magical, and basically picked pieces that are whimsical and festive at the same time,” the executive explained.
This look is achieved via delicate fabrics like lace; detailed embroidery on contrasting tailored pieces; fur-on jacket collars; and floral and paisley prints.
Of course, splashes of red are always a staple at Christmas time from men’s tops and jackets to women’s dresses and accessories; with a palette option of more subdued wines and earthen colors.
To dress warmly during cooler mornings and nippy nights, knits and lightweight coats also find a place in holiday trends; and finally for accessories, hats, bonnets, scarves, cover-ups are also highly encouraged.
Some 20 brands took to the runway for Style Spectrum 2016, among them Anne Klein, Reiss, Arrow, Banana Republic, Rustan’s Department Store, Zara, Marks & Spencer.
