It usually takes a huge effort for any girl to get along with her boyfriend’s mother, but happily for dramatic actress Angel Locsin, such is not the case with her possible future mother-in-law. Even if she is the Star for All Seasons, and the noted and beloved governor of Batangas.
In fact, Angel also discovered that she and the one and only Vilma Santos can get along famously as co-actors when they teamed up for Star Cinema’s much awaited opening salvo for 2016, Everything About Her.
“Isa pong humbling experience ang makatrabaho si Gov. Vi, hindi lang dahil alam nating lahat kung gaano siya kagaling na artista, pero kung paano siya makitungo sa lahat ng tao sa set. Parepareho ang pagtrato niya sa lahat—maliit man o Malaki—at napaka sincere po niya.”
Angel, whose relationship with Gov. Vi’s eldest son Luis Manzano is going strong, admitted being nervous at the prospect of working with the multi-awarded actress. Besides being star-struck, she was also very nervous.
“I know I’m so blessed to be working with her,” added Angel who said she made it her goal not to disappoint the Star of All Seasons with her output in the movie. “Napaka-suwerte ko na nakatrabaho ko si Vilma Santos dahil napakarami kong natutunan sa kanya—kung paano maging magaling na artista at mabuting tao.”
Everything About Her is centered on two women whose personalities and individual backgrounds are the polar opposite of each other. Vivian (Vilma) is a no nonsense power lady who is diagnosed with a terminal disease. She is forced to hire a nurse, Jaica (Angel), who besides being tasked to take care of her also has to make sure her colleagues and staff never find out she has cancer.
Moreover, Vivian and Jaica’s conflict is set against a bigger backdrop that tackles parent-child relationships. According to the production notes, “The film honors the countless hardships that every parent goes through to raise their children, while hoping to inspire children to recognize the sacrifices of their parents despite their perfections and imperfections.
“Everything About Her reflects the reality that despite the different dynamics between parents and children, one thing will remain constant and certain—that parents and children only want the best for each other.”
Meanwhile, when asked how she and Angel came to work so well together on the set, given their unique situation, the forever amiable Gov. Vi simply replied, “Pagdating sa pelikula pareho kaming artista, pero pag nasa bahay kami, nanay ako ni Lucky.”
