A WIDOWER, included in the watch list of drug personalities in Agusan del Sur province, was shot and killed by six gunmen while she was watching TV inside her home in a remote village in Talacogon town of the said province.
Reports reaching the Philippine National Police (PNP) national operations center in Camp Crame identified the victim as Rosita Otacan, of legal age and a widower residing at Purok 3, Barangay Buena Garcia, Tacalogon, Agusan del Sur.
Reports said that Otacan was watching TV with her live in partner Peter Vañez, a militaman, and nephew Benie Otacan, when six unidentified gunmen barged inside their home. The gunmen reportedly shot the victim several times using an unknown caliber gun and hitting her in different parts of her body and killing her almost instantly.
Aside from the victim, reports said that the Otacan’s nephew was also wounded in the incident after a bullet hit the young Otacan on his left buttock. Meanwhile, the victim’s live-in partner was able to run-away and didn’t sustain any injury or wounds, the reports said.
Policemen recovered eight fired cartridges of an unknown firearm and a toother and foil used as shabu paraphernalia in the crime scene.
Police said the motive of the incident could be drug related since the victim was on the drug watch list and allegedly involved in illegal drug activities. However, Talacogon Municipal Police said they are still conducting thorough follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation that could lead to the arrest of the suspects. Anthony Vargas
