The Department of Justice (DOJ) ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday to probe the allegations of the wife of Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Juan Andres Bautista that he has amassed nearly P1 billion in ill-gotten wealth.

Malacañang backed the call for a probe, while a senator has asked the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to launch a legislative inquiry amid claims Bautista’s alleged illicit activities could put into question all elections he had supervised.
