• Wife points husband’s hired killer

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Police operatives have arrested the suspected killer of a 22-yar-old security guard, who was shot in front of his wife in a parking lot of a downtown restaurant in this city, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

Supt. Julius Suriben, city police chief, said Lorenzo Mendoza of Barangay Pias has been detained for the murder of Mark Brian Domine, who was identified by Angel, wife of the victim, as the gunman.

“The motive was personal and business-related,” said Suriben, who did not elaborate.

The couple was preparing to board their motorcycle when Mendoza approached and shot Domine at close range. He died on the way to the hospital.

Investigators were preparing to file murder charges against Mendoza, who was allegedly hired to kill Domine.

Insp. Vanessa Gabot said the killer used a revolver, but investigators failed to recover empty shells on the scene of the crime.

In Camarines Sur, police has launched a manhunt for a set of twins, who were tagged as the main suspects in the killing of a man inside a cockpit in Milaot town on Monday.

Supt. Primop Golingay, Camarines Sur Police Chief, declined to give the names of the twins but said tracker teams have been sent out to arrest them for shooting to death Jeffrey Villafuerte of Barangay Penafrancia, Naga City.

Several witnesses said the victim and the suspects were having a heated argument when one of the twins pulled out a gun and fired at Villafuerte, who was rushed to the hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
