WIM Frayna shares lead with Russian


Woman International Master (WIM) Janelle Mae Frayna remained on track of claiming the title as she shared the top spot with a Russian player after eighth round of the prestigious World Junior Chess Championships being held at the KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, India.

Frayna has so far collected 6.5 points – the same output of fellow WIM Dinara Dordzhieva in the girls’ division of the tournament sanctioned by the International Chess Federation.

The 18-year-old Filipina wizard posted victories over Woman FIDE Master Daria-iona Visanescu of Romania in the first round, Woman Candidate Master Saina Salonika of India in the second, WIM Ashritha Eswaran of US in the third, WIM Alina Bivol of Russia in the fourth and untitled K Priyanka of India in the seventh.

Frayna will be facing WGM Dinara Saduakassova of Kazakhstan in the ninth round.
