The Western Visayas region has the most number of cases of violation of RA 9262 otherwise known as the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act (VAWC) among all the regions in the first half of the year, figures from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed.

The PNP Directorate for Investigative and Detective Management (DIDM) said 15, 722 cases were filed with the police nationwide from January to end of June this year. Of this number, 3, 747 complaints were recorded in the Western Visayas that comprises the provinces of Antique, Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Siquijor and Negros Occidental.
