Fans of Filipino independent films no longer need to wait for movie festivals or special reruns of titles they fell in love with the launch of #madeINDIEphilippines by Southeast Asian Internet TV service, iflix.
Welcomed in grand style by the web-based company, #madeINDIEphilippines’ gathered hundreds of influencers, media personalities and indie enthusiasts at Black Market in San Lorenzo, Makati City. Certainly more than just a party, the event featured a panel discussion featuring some of the country’s top indie filmmakers, producers and distributors, namely Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, Victor Villanueva, Sari Dalena, Armi Cacanindin, Wincy Ong, Albert Almendralejo, Mark Meily, and Bianca Balbuena.
The esteemed panel unanimously lauded the Internet TV service provider’s commitment to support the independent film industry by providing local filmmakers and distributors a new, dynamic platform to showcase their films.
As iflix head of Production and Development and film director Quark Henares said, “We are thrilled to showcase so many internationally-acclaimed, masterpiece films to our Filipino audiences. This is yet another testament of our commitment to bring the best in Philippine independent cinema to a global audience.”
He then enumerated some of the most popular titles from the company’s Filipino indie film library, among them the award-winning Ang Kwento ni Mabuti, Ang Huling Cha Cha ni Anita, Dagitab, and Thy Womb.
