• WV board to review ‘kasambahay’ wages


    BACOLOD CITY: The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Western Visayas is set to review the wages of kasambahay (domestic workers) in the region in the wake of a proposed salary increase. Winnie Sancho, a labor sector representative to RTWPB, on Thursday said the body has proposed the increase of wages for domestic workers in cities and first class municipalities to P865.74 per month and P692.92 for other municipalities. Current wages for househelps in the region are pegged at P2,500 for cities and first class municipalities and P2,000 for the other towns. Public hearings and consultations will be held on August 16 in Iloilo City and August 18 in Bacolod City while the board deliberations are set on August 24 and 25 and the signing of the Implementing Rules and Regulations, on September 8.
