HER employer’s decision to let her go prompted Filipina caregiver Rose Fostanes to embrace a singing career in Israel after winning the “X-Factor” talent show.
Fostanes, the only foreign contestant on the show, on Tuesday confirmed that Israel’s Interior Ministry granted her an entertainer visa so that she can pursue her singing career in the Jewish state.
Although she welcomed the move, Fostanes was saddened as she will be leaving her 47-year old employee where she worked as caregiver for quite a long time.
If given the chance, Fostanes said she wanted to retain her job as caregiver while doing concerts and recordings.
But Fostanes said, her employer was the one who decided and advised her to accept the option being offered by the Ministry to have an entertainer visa.
“Ayoko po sanang i-give up pero ang employer ko na ang nagdecide na kailangan ko yung visa na yun [I really don’t want to give-up my job as caregiver but my employer decided that I have to choose that visa],” Fostanes told radio dzBB in an interview.
One of the options offered by the Interior Ministry is to maintain her employment at the same time allowing her to pursue her singing career.
But Fostanes said such option has limitations as she will only be allowed to have a singing engagement for only 10 hours a week.
“My employer does not want such option,” said Fostanes adding that the former wanted her to concentrate more on her singing career.
The 47-year-old Filipina moved to Israel six years ago, obtaining a visa to work as a caregiver for the sick and elderly.
Fostanes said the only thing her employer wanted her to fulfill is to visit the latter and have a sip of coffee.
Israel Interior Minister Gideon Saar issued a statement saying he had decided to allow Fostanes to work as an artist.
Currently, Fostanes said she has numerous offers and invitations including television guesting and a concert in Dubai, Saudi Arabia.
She is also planning to visit her family in Tipas, Taguig City to thank all those who supported her during the competition.
