Former teen star Yasmin Kurdi is looking her best these days, even as she is already a doting mom to a pretty toddler named Ayesha. The 27-year-old actress who took time off from showbiz after secretly marrying pilot Rey Soldevilla in 2012 to finish college and raise a family is in perfect form, and all set to appear in a new prime time series on GMA Network.

“It’s true that your perspective changes when you become a mother,” Kurdi said, as she tried her best to answer questions from the press at the launch of Sa Piling Ni Nanay, with Ayesha trying to get her attention. Whispering something to quiet her little one down, the actress revealed that Ayesha already wants to be an actress like her.

“Siguro pag nakapag-college na siya,” was the protective mom’s nippy reply when asked if she would allow her three-year-old to join showbiz. Kurdi explained—based on her experience when she started her career at age 14 via GMA’s StarStruck talent search—that she would like to give her daughter a chance to figure out what she really wants to do in the future.

“When you’re young hindi mo pa talaga alam kung anong gusto mong gawin, tulad ko noon,” the wise young woman continued. “At some point, I felt so unsure of what I wanted to do anymore, and I don’t want Ayesha to go through that.”

For now, she allows her daughter to see parts of what a career in showbiz is all about, such as taking her to press conferences once in a while, as well as the fun part of getting all prettied up for the cameras.

“She gets excited seeing all this but I also want to expose her to other things,” Kurdi added.

As she happily embraces the responsibilities of a parent in her private life, the come-backing actress has also wholeheartedly taken on the role of a mother for her latest TV project.

Premiering tonight, Sa Piling Ni Nanay casts Kurdi in the lead role of Ysabel, a single mother to a sick child. In need of money for her daughter’s bone marrow transplant, she agrees to become a surrogate for her boss who is unable to bear children.

Halfway through her pregnancy, Ysabel’s daughter dies, causing her to flee with her boss’ baby and raise it as her own.

Sa Piling Ni Nanay is directed by Gil Tejada Jr. and also stars Mark Herras, Katrina Halili, Nova Villa, Bettina Carlos, Antonio Aquitania, ad Sofia Jayzel Cabatay.
