The Philippines will kick off the yearlong build-up to the 2015 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit with the unveiling of the event’s logo, followed by the Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM) in Albay.
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte made the announcement on Saturday as the government starts preparations for hosting the summit proper in November 2015.
President Benigno Aquino 3rd will lead the kick-off ceremony on Monday with the unveiling of the logo and theme, Valte told Radyo ng Bayan.
By December 8 and 9, APEC members from 20 countries will gather in Albay for the ISOM meeting—an event which will serve as the venue for agenda setting of priorities of the 21 member economies, Valte said.
“We are ironing out the little details but we are ready for December 8. Notable speakers will also be arriving [in Albay]so the members can discusses how the economies can move forward,” she added.
Valte credited the effort of the Albay provincial government of Albay led by Gov. Joey Salceda as well as the Philippine Information Agency and the Department of Tourism.
“Everybody contributed to make the start of our hosting a success,” Valte said.
