The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa ) on Thursday morning issued issued a yellow rainfall warning on some provinces in the Visayas due to Typhoon Yolanda
In its twitter account, a Yellow Warning Signal issued at 7 a.m., Pagasa said moderate to heavy rains is expected to affect Samar, Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.
Under the warning system, yellow means flooding is possible in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.
It warned of “possible flooding in low-lying areas and those located near the river and creek channels.”
“People are advised to monitor the weather condition and watch out for the next warning,” said Pagasa.
The weather agency also said the rains is due typhoon Typhoon Yolanda as it continues to move west northwest towards Eastern Visayas. PNA
