• Youngest mayoral bet in Bataan files COC

BAGAC, Bataan: The mayoral bet in this mountain town, considered as the youngest candidate for mayor in the province, filed his certificate of candidacy with his complete slate on Tuesday morning.

Louise Gabriel “Gabs” del Rosario, 21, led his team composed of his first cousin Ron del Rosario who is running for vice mayor and eight candidates for councilor in filing their certificates of candidacy (COC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Gabs, the son of outgoing Bagac Mayor Rommel del Rosario, is the former national president of the Sangguniang Kabataan and ex-officio member of the Bataan Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Also present to witness the event was Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia, president of the National Unity Party (NUP), which is allied with the Liberal Party.

In Ormoc City, Leyte Province, Mayor Edward Codilla has received his Certificate of Nominations and Acceptance from the Liberal Party as the official candidate for the Mayoralty race in the city.

However, it was not known yet if Mayor Codilla’s wife, Violeta Trangia Codilla, will be fielded by the Liberal Party to run as representative in the 4th District of Leyte as incumbent Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez is a member of the Liberal Party.

San Pedro City Mayor Lourdes Cataquiz filed her COC at the San Pedro Comelec office with incumbent councilor and vice mayoralty candidate Diwa Tayao and 10 candidates for city councilor under the Nacionalista Party-Liberal Party Coalition ticket in Laguna.

In Iloilo, after three days of slow filing of the certificate of candidacy of local candidates here, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) is expecting an upsurge of COC filing by Thursday, October 15 and Friday, October 16.
