VICE Mayor Jejomar Binay on Friday paid tribute to the youth, calling them the “hope of the nation.”
“The Filipino youth is the hope of the nation, and it will be through their hard work and dedication that our country will achieve its dreams and aspirations,” Binay said in a statement.
“As we celebrate National Youth Day, we congratulate Malala Yousafzai who recently became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. Malala’s story is one of resilience, courage, and hope despite the most dangerous of circumstances. At a very young age, she started to fight for the right of girls to education in her home country of Pakistan despite numerous threats, including an attempt on her life. As a former human rights lawyer, I admire her passion for championing human rights, and I hope that she serves as an inspiration for our young men and women,” he added.
