Zambo health office records 4 Chikungunya cases

ZAMBOANGA CITY: The City Health Office has four confirmed positive cases of Chikungunya since January this year. Dr. Rodelin Agbulos, Zamboanga city health officer, said on Wednesday that the patients were among the 43 suspected cases they referred to the Department of Health’s Research Institute for Tropical Medicine. Agbulos said three of the four patients are from Barangay Guiwan and one is from Barangay Lunzuran. Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne disease like dengue fever but its symptoms include severe joint pains aside from high grade fever and rashes. The joint pains usually last for more than a week while the rashes are visible when the patient is with fever. Agbulos urged the public to also keep their surroundings clean to deny mosquito-carriers of Chikungunya virus of breeding places.
