ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police here have intercepted 10 cargo trucks loaded with an estimated over P2 million worth of smuggled rice in a west coast village of this city, police reported over the weekend. Zamboanga City Public Safety Company Supt. William Gadayan said the rice shipment was intercepted around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in Barangay Sinunuc, 9.4 kms west of this city. Gadayan said the rice shipment came from Jolo, Sulu, and was transported aboard MV Al Kausal. The shipment consisted of 2,943 sacks of 25 kilos each is owned by a businessman who is residing in Barangay Sinunuc, according to Gadayan.
